Julie Nicholson
"Miss Julie"
Certified Orton-Gillingham & Dyslexia Specialist
Hello, my name is Julie Nicholson. I am from Clearwater, FL. Growing up with a mother teaching kindergarten, I saw first hand the joy of working with children. In college, I decided that I too wanted to be a teacher and received my bachelor’s degree from Furman University in SC in Elementary Education and Special Education. I have 30 years of teaching experience.

I have taught both in the US and overseas in Thailand as well as online. In 2012, I completed the comprehensive Orton-Gillingham training by the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE). Then in 2023, I received training with the Orton-Gillingham Online Academy. The Orton-Gillingham Method focuses on a sequential, structured, multi-sensory approach to help students who are struggling with reading, spelling and writing. For the last 11 years I have enjoyed working with students with dyslexia and ADHD. It’s a gift to see how creative and talented each student truly is and how successful they can be with supportive teaching and encouragement!
