Job Description: 

 

Dyslexia Tutor (Remote or In Person)

 

We are growing our team! Tutors will provide Orton-Gillingham instruction, using the Barton Reading and Spelling System (or other approved OG curriculum), to students in a one-on-one setting. Tutors have the flexibility to work from anywhere with our remote-first model, and enjoy the flexibility to teach when it’s most convenient - whether that’s before or after school, evenings, and even weekends if you prefer!

Responsibilities:

​

• Meet with each student twice per week for 60 mins each session.

• Teach each session using The Barton Reading and Spelling System/OG System with fidelity.

• Draft weekly lesson notes briefly summarizing student progress and content covered.

• Communicate with parents and/or students as needed about progress and scheduling.

• Keep track of weekly attendance.

Qualifications:

​

• Minimum of two years experience teaching/tutoring students with learning differences in person (required).

• Minimum of one year experience teaching/tutoring students with learning differences online (required).

• Orton-Gillingham training/or working towards certification (required). 

• Bachelor's or higher in Education or related field (required).

• Reliable WiFi/internet access, desktop/laptop, mouse, and headset. 

• Maintain a monthly Zoom Pro or Business account.

• Provide your own Whizzimo and Barton materials OR approved OG curriculum.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong organizational skills.

• The successful candidate also must be patient and be able to motivate and encourage students and adapt to their learning needs.

You will be asked during the Zoom interview to present a lesson as if you were teaching to a student online. 

​

Job Type: Part-Time. Contract. As an independent contractor, you will receive a 1099 in January of each year. 

​

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour.

​

Work Location: Remote or Library

Schedule: Mon.- Thurs. (9:30am-12:30pm and 2:30pm-7:30pm EST). ​

About Us: Dyslexic Einstein Tutoring, LLC is located in South Florida servicing students in Palm Beach, Martin, and St. Lucie counties as well as students across the state and the U.S. region. Our goal is to support struggling readers and help children grow intellectually and creatively, by providing individualized instruction for their learning needs. We offer specialized tutoring using Orton-Gillingham methods in a one-on-one environment to children with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and ADHD.

If you are Orton-Gillingham Certified (Orton-Gillingham Practitioner Certification Associate Level, A/OGA or Certified Level, C/OGA) and have at least 6 months teaching experience you will be hired at the $45 per hour rate.
