New Worlds Scholarship
Legislative Updates as of July 2, 2025
Changes due to the state budget:

The Florida Legislature has provided no new funding for the New Worlds Scholarship Accounts for the 2025-26 school year. New scholarships will not be awarded. Current New Worlds Scholarship Account recipients may continue to use their student’s remaining scholarship funds on approved items and services to support their child’s education.
Changes due to Senate Bill 2510:
IMPORTANT: Beginning July 1, 2025, all New Worlds Scholarship Accounts will begin a 1-year count of inactivity. Accounts with no spending activity from July 1, 2025, to July 1, 2026, will be closed and funds returned to the state.
Effective July 1, 2024, the New Worlds Scholarship Accounts Program expanded eligibility to include VPK students as well as public school students enrolled in kindergarten through grade 5, worth $1,200 each, to pay for tuition and fees related to part-time tutoring, summer and after-school literacy programs, instructional materials (including desktop/laptop computers and tablets and curriculum related to reading or literacy).

What is it?
New Worlds Scholarship accounts provide access to a flexible education savings account (ESA). The ESA functions like a bank account with funds you can spend on educational resources. Dollars from this scholarship must be used in ways that improve reading and/or math, such as part-time tutoring services through Dyslexic Einstein.

The New Worlds Scholarship is available to VPK-5 grade students who have a substantial reading or math deficiency. Students who are classified as English Language Learners who are enrolled in a program or receiving services from the school district will receive first priority. The program is first-come, first-served with $29 million budgeted for the scholarship.

Scholarships are worth $1,200 each and can be used for tuition reimbursement:

-
14 FREE tutoring sessions!
-
Tuition and fees for part-time tutoring provided by a person who holds a valid Florida educator’s certificate, a baccalaureate or graduate degree in the subject, an adjunct teaching certificate, or has demonstrated mastery of the subject area knowledge.
